The making of a water goddess photo shoot!

I love making props! I have a whole section of my studio just for creating things.

I do however have a love/hate relationship with wings. They are fun to make and equally such a pain in the butt.

Maybe it’s the repetitiveness of them. The fact that I’m cutting the same shape over and over and over and over and….over again.

But I always somehow go back to making them. Thankfully, this time they were put to good use.

I’ve had a goal for a while to learn how to use a drone. I love the idea of taking shots from above and getting to see a new perspective. Something a little different than my normal viewpoint. I also thought it would be so fun to do something over top of water. And just like classic Jess fashion, I opted to combine the two. Learning how to fly a drone… but over water.

Thankfully the sky was pretty calm that day but was a little bit windy. Any time it got a little windy though I panicked and brought the drone back in. I was ready to dive in for it at any moments notice too. And since we had to actually dive in to get our angel in due to there not being a ladder to climb in, we were already good to go.

The shoot was lots of fun and definitely something I’ll never forget. We ended up diving in and taking some fun shots in the water later on too. All in all it was such a lovely experience and I’m here to photograph anyone in water whenever they want. I’ll even make some new wings for it too!
