Adult Cake Smashes in Cincinnati
Cake Smash Photography in Cincinnati
Yes, for babies. Yes, for adults. Yes, for anyone who has ever looked at a beautiful cake and thought… I kind of just want to destroy that.
Hear me out.
You turn 30, or 40, or 50 -- or honestly any age that feels worth making a big deal about and someone just hands you a fancy cake and expects you to cut it with a knife like a normal person? No. Absolutely not.
Adult cake smashes are one of my favorite sessions to shoot because the energy is just different. There's something about giving an adult full permission to destroy a beautiful cake that brings out the most genuine, unguarded joy. No posing. No "say cheese." Just pure, unfiltered fun and photos that actually show what it feels like to celebrate. As a Cincinnati cake smash photographer, this is honestly one of my favorite things to shoot.
These make incredible birthday gifts, solo celebration sessions, or just a reason to do something completely ridiculous and document it forever. You deserve it.
I've been doing adult cake smashes long enough that NPR came calling. As I told Marketplace: “You have to let go of all of your inhibitions of getting dirty, or messy, or sticky, and you just really have to dig in on that cake.” That's still exactly how I'd describe it.
Baby & 1st Birthday Cake Smashes
There is nothing -- nothing -- more joyful than watching a baby experience cake for the first time. The confusion, the delight, the total commitment to getting it absolutely everywhere. That's the good stuff. That's what you're going to want to hang on your wall.
As a cake smash photographer in Cincinnati, my 1st birthday sessions are designed to capture all of it. The messy hands, the frosting face, the look right before they go in for the second fistful. I set up a custom little scene in my Cincinnati studio: balloons, a smash cake, coordinating colors, whatever fits your baby's birthday vibe and then we just let them do their thing.
These sessions are also a great time to get some clean family portraits before the chaos starts, so you get the beautiful and the ridiculous all in one session.

Send me a message. Tell me a little bit about what you're looking for and when -- baby's first birthday, a milestone you want to celebrate, a theme you have in mind, whatever. I'll send you over everything you need to get your session started. I try to respond as fast as I can. Usually within a day or so.

It's time to smash some cake! It will be a fun and chill time with music on in the background and everything set up and ready to go when you arrive.

2 weeks after your session, you will get a link to your gallery. You can pick and choose what images you want to print and download from here.
Common questions
-
Nope! I make the smash cake myself, so it's already taken care of. If you have your heart set on something specific or want to bring your own, that's totally fine too -- just let me know ahead of time so we can plan the setup around it.
-
Whatever you want them to smash cake in! A lot of families do a cute little outfit for the pre-smash family portraits and then let the baby go to town in just a onesie or diaper. Totally up to you.
-
My studio is set up for exactly this. I've done a lot of these. Cake everywhere is fully expected and I am not even a little bit bothered by it.
-
Yes. And every single person who has done it has told me it was one of the most fun photoshoots they've ever had. Don't knock it until you've tried it.

A few weeks is usually enough, but the sooner the better -- especially for weekend slots and fall/winter birthday seasons, which fill up fast.
