This past Friday I packed my bags, went to the airport with my bestie and we flew to New Mexico. Albuquerque to be more specific. I personally had never been any further west than maybe Kentucky or Indiana, so this was indeed an excellent adventure.
We got there around 11 pm so we couldn't really see anything when we were driving to where we were staying. When we woke up the next morning the view was beautiful, with nothing but mountains surrounding the entire city! Since I was there for a shoot I had to leave early in the morning and despite the fact that it was a chilly morning there were tons of hot air balloons in the sky. Not something you really see here in Cincinnati. Literally, there was probably 2 or more every time you turned a corner.
I had to keep this trip a secret, not because of the shoot I was hired for but because it was also a surprise for my best friends brother who had no idea we were coming and yes he was definitely surprised. I was there personally for an event with the Kirtland Air Force base, photos with Santa!
The whole weekend was an amazing. We were taken around the city to see the sites and tried some of the fantastic food that Albuquerque has to offer. My favorite was probably Rudys BBQ. It was incredibly delicious and I'm sure I'm going to crave that turkey and brisket for days!
We also traveled up to the top of the Sandia Mountain peak that is 10,378 ft tall. It took roughly an hour to get up there but the view alone was worth it. It also may have been a little on the cold side but me and my polar bear ways was totally cool with it. I just wish I had gloves.
Later that day we stopped off at a park to do a little session for my besties brother and his girlfriend, Nichole. I'm officially jealous of anyone who has surroundings like this to shoot in. It was beautiful, the sunset was perfect, there were bunnies and jackrabbits everywhere and mountains in the background. I couldn't have asked for a better place to shoot. Literally Perfect.
Only 2 months-ish till my next trip, Vegas, and I can't wait! Slowly but surly I'm making my way around the world!
See ya next week!
