Kids

For all those wildly imaginative kids out there.

Remember that sweet little image I created early in January? It was of a little boy sitting on his bed looking out his window and there was a dinosaur looking back.

Cool concept right?

The thing I love most about this is it shows the real imagination that children have. When they play, this is what they see. They form giant ideas and play them out. To us, its pretend but to them it’s super real and amazing.

Imagine if we had the ability to take what was in our kids minds when they are playing and print it out and see it for ourselves.

That would be incredible. You could get to know the way your child imagines, thinks and sees the world.

Fun story- That image I’m talking about is actually a creation from doing just that.

We sat down, talked about what was in the room, what it looked like, what kind of dinosaur would be in the window, what kind of pj’s he would be wearing and if it was day time or night time. So many little details all from the mind of a child.

I took those details and kept them on a little note next to me while I created a dreamy portrait of what was described to me. Basically putting what he sees into something tangible that we all can appreciate and his mom can hold close to her as he grows up and look back and remember those fun moments that he had as a kid.

When she showed him the photos when they were done, he looked up at her and said “This was yesterday right mommy?” because he really remembers this whole scene happening. Talk about the most adorable melt your heart moment.

So let me ask you this. Does your child have a crazy imagination? Do they always tell you about the adventures they go on? Do they love playing dress up and making up characters and people they are pretending to be?

If you answered yes to any one of these, I guarantee you have a little dreamer on your hands with an imagination that is exploding inside of their heads. Why not take the opportunity to see what their imagination really looks like. I promise it is an experience you won’t forget.

A Big Field, Stars and a Whole Lot of Imagination

Meet Charlie and Jonathan. Two sweet dapper gentleman from cincinnati that I got to hang out with for the afternoon while we set up and photographed the "Stars in the sky" session.

I think I may have drove around for at least 35 minutes trying to find the spot I was looking for and never actually made it there. Sometimes you just have to make an executive decision and just park your car.   so we set up at a little field - I mean big - really really big field- inside East Fork State Park.

When we were setting up we realized the field itself was full of fossils from the water that used to be there and the boys absolutely loved it! I think they spent more time fossil hunting than actually taking photos. Charlie found some super cool ones though and I dubbed him the Fossil Whisperer.

The session itself was actually a super short and sweet deal. The boys were perfect at posing and doing what I asked. There is a really short Facebook live video on my page that captures the first couple shots but my phone was about to die so I had to take what I could get.

If you remember from my last post this session was all about the imagination of two little boys who wanted to put the stars in the sky. I've been planning this session for quite some time now and I'm so excited that it finally became a reality.

I'm so happy with how these turned out. There is nothing more fulfilling than seeing a compleatly finished set of image that can tell a story.

The Adventures of Lilly Bug

As children, we all have endless amounts of imagination. We have imaginary friends, teddy bears and stuffed bunny rabbits are our companion of choice and we could literally take ourselves on an epic adventure just by walking outside into the back yard.  We saw things different with way more magic. Somewhere along the way we grow up and forget that these things were possible, that somewhere in our brain space adventures and imaginary worlds still exists. In the on coming months I will be releasing some new images that will take you on a much needed journey back to the world of imagination where anything is possible.

Ready? Good...

With that being said, I want you all to meet this beautiful girl, Lilly.

We took a small little adventure to the most gorgeous weeping willow tree and discovered some cool moss, had a little tea party with bear and met a zebra along the way.  All in all it was a pretty magical evening.

I can't wait to share what's coming up next week. I'll give you a hint. It may have something to do with the starts in the sky.  Care to take a guess? Let me know what you think it is in the comments below!

Till next time!
