Why It's Important To Let Your Childs Imagination Out To Play

Why It's Important To Let Your Childs Imagination Out To Play

All dressed up in her brand new dress, she climbed into her spaceship looked up at me and said "My spaceship runs off of glitter."  I laughed, and put a hand full of glitter into what I assumed was the "gas tank".  She was on a mission to fly away and meet the other princesses on different planets.

The BEST Thing To Do When It Snows

I cant get enough snowy days. I feel literally ALIVE when it snows like a weird thing in me has woken up and I'm full of energy. I think it's partly because its so beautiful and I also just really like winter time- and trust me, I know that opinion is not shared with a lot of you.

Regardless of your feelings about snow I think we can all agree that it looks DAMN good in photos. Even more so when you have an exceptionally gorgeous lady to put in the photos with it.

If you didn't already know, I've been WAITNG FOR DAYS to get a decent snow storm to photograph in. When I saw that it was finally snowing I called up my model and headed to the park to create magic- Dream session magic to be more specific.

The plan behind this session was to create a story about a girl, who later became dubbed a woodland nymph, was walking along the woods on her way home and found a key in a hollowed out tree. She then wonders what the key is doing in the tree picks it up and the key leads her to another tree where it opens a door to an unknown world. (I may actually write a story to go with this...)

It was such a fun photo story to photograph and since shooting it I've been in love with the images and how they turned out. I'm loving the idea of telling an actual story with images, something that you can print in a book and keep, share with your children... even put your children it it. The possibilities of what you can do with a photo story are endless.

I also at the end of the session, I saw a great opportunity to take a great levitation shot. It had nothing to do with the story we set out to photograph but it was still cool and I couldn't let it go to waste.

I also made a fun time lapse work in progress video of the creation of it. You can also find this video in the Behind The Scenes tab on my website, along with other rad videos to check out.

What I'm super curious about is how do you take this image? What do you think is going on? I know what I planned it to be but I want to know what you think first before I tell you.  Share in the comments below your thoughts, I'd love to read them!

I like People Who Smile When It's Raining- Cincinnati Ohio Maternity Photography

A few weeks ago I found myself hiding under a group of trees with my clients as we waited out a random rain storm that decided the best time to let its cold drops of rain go was during my late afternoon session.

We were huddled under a tree for quite some time playing " don't smudge the makeup" and "keep the dress dry"  while we watched a boy on a unicycle juggle in the rain on the side walk in front of us without dropping anything or falling. - I know sounds like a crazy weird series of events but he was getting some super sweet shots for his senior photos... I think.

I knew this session was going to be amazing when I saw my client, Amber, get out of the car with an incredible black tulle dress on. My mouth quite literally fell open when I saw it. The perfect amount of fluff and adorable!

I've done a lot of different sessions at Ault park and to be honest I get tired of that location but for some reason it was just different that day. There was an amazing beauty to it that I'm not quite sure I've seen before. Maybe it was all the leaves changing and the storm clouds in the background but it was beautiful.

Later we went to my studio to shoot the rest of the session, something I'm always super thrilled to do- a milk bath.

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE  milk baths. They are beautiful and always have such an amazing color scheme to them.

This is one of my favorite sessions to date and I'm so excited for the Amber and her husband on their newly announced baby BOY!

I hope everyone has an Thanksgiving!
