Cincy

For all those wildly imaginative kids out there.

Remember that sweet little image I created early in January? It was of a little boy sitting on his bed looking out his window and there was a dinosaur looking back.

Cool concept right?

The thing I love most about this is it shows the real imagination that children have. When they play, this is what they see. They form giant ideas and play them out. To us, its pretend but to them it’s super real and amazing.

Imagine if we had the ability to take what was in our kids minds when they are playing and print it out and see it for ourselves.

Cincinnati Ohio Photographer creates Dreamy images from Children's imaginations

That would be incredible. You could get to know the way your child imagines, thinks and sees the world.

Fun story- That image I’m talking about is actually a creation from doing just that.

We sat down, talked about what was in the room, what it looked like, what kind of dinosaur would be in the window, what kind of pj’s he would be wearing and if it was day time or night time. So many little details all from the mind of a child.

I took those details and kept them on a little note next to me while I created a dreamy portrait of what was described to me. Basically putting what he sees into something tangible that we all can appreciate and his mom can hold close to her as he grows up and look back and remember those fun moments that he had as a kid.

When she showed him the photos when they were done, he looked up at her and said “This was yesterday right mommy?” because he really remembers this whole scene happening. Talk about the most adorable melt your heart moment.

So let me ask you this. Does your child have a crazy imagination? Do they always tell you about the adventures they go on? Do they love playing dress up and making up characters and people they are pretending to be?

If you answered yes to any one of these, I guarantee you have a little dreamer on your hands with an imagination that is exploding inside of their heads. Why not take the opportunity to see what their imagination really looks like. I promise it is an experience you won’t forget.

Literally the cutest puppies I've EVER SEEN! Cincinnati Ohio Pet Photography

Listen to this blog post by pressing play now :)

Late last year I partnered with Hotel Covington for an AMAZING day full of puppies and fun.

Their outdoor courtyard was filled with some of the cutest dogs I’ve ever seen, all having fun in these big giant baby pools. They would run in and out of them chasing toys and each other.

I was there with my doggie dream photobooth. My idea was glam up the pups and show them off in an incredible portrait.

Some were a little harder than others to photograph but it was an incredibly fun experience.

Check out some of the most adorable pups below:

See… FREAKING ADORABLE!

This year I want to do more of this. Basically what I’m saying is I’d LOVE to photograph your pets in a vanity fair dreamy style portrait.

I don’t care the pet… let’s make it happen. Have a lizard? Ferret? Let’s make some adorable magic.

While I have you here… What kind of pet do you have and what is it’s name?

Super feeling this pet photo idea? Message me and we will set up some magic for you and your fur baby!

How I turned a photo in to a Polar Express Dream! Cincinnati Ohio Photographer

When I was little, I’d say roughly about grade 2 or 3, our class was told to sit down for a story. We all sat down on the big rug on the floor by the chalkboard. The lights were dimmed a little and my teacher began to read us a story that to this day is still one of my favorites.

The story has to do with a little boy who is picked up by a train that magically appears in front of his house before Christmas. He is taken on a wild ride that night and is given a bell with no ringer when it’s over.

Know what story I’m talking about? ( I hope so!)

If you don’t its The Polar Express.

A Christmas Classic in my eyes.

The day the read us that story I was just so captivated by it and the idea. Our teacher even gave us little bells at the end of the day to take home- I still have mine.

This year I wanted to bring a little of that feeling back and provide a mini that more or less brought it to life once again for everyone.

I had my friend bring her two awesome kids over to test out my idea. I told them to wear their pj’s and come over ready to look amazed.

The funny thing about photographing 1-3 year olds is they have their own timeframes and you really can’t tell them what to do when it comes to a photo. If you look at the video close our littlest one kept walking off, being super focused on low hanging Christmas tree things.

Good thing I only need one good shot to make it work haha.

My main focus for the edit for this was to make sure the kids looked like they fit into the photo AND that they looked like it was shot at night. Since colors look different in the dark, especially red, that meant I had to mute the tones a little and add a lot of shadowing.

I also added a fun snow video overlay to the end photo. Like I said in one of my last posts, it’s becoming a favorite thing to do. You can add them as a facebook profile photo too. Definitely something I’ll be offering out from now on as a nice little extra treat ;)

All in all I love how it came out and it’s something I’m sure I’ll bring back next year but a little earlier in the season. I’m also thinking photos with the grinch next year as that is another movie I love for the holidays.

If you have fun ideas for holiday photos let me know in the comments!

Happy Holidays everyone!
