5 unique ways to display photos in your home.

So you went out, had your daughters photos taken for her 5th birthday. You spent tons of money for the outfit, shoes and the photographer to take the images.  You finally made it in to pick up your prints and you're so excited that they are ready.

3 weeks go by, your prints are still sitting in the same spot they were when you came home and sat them down.

Ever been there?  I have, and I don't even have any children.  Life is busy and complicated it takes time to plan out the way we want to display the things we love  in our homes.  Not to mention that some of us just have a simple fear of putting something on a wall.  * you know who you are*

It's a big decision, I get it.

As a former Interior Designer I know that a person has a zillion ideas of what they want to do and not so much on the actual execution when it comes to designing of those ideas. This is why it's important to start out with a game plan.

Finding the perfect design that speaks to you is always step 1.

Do you like a modern look? Maybe something that is more modern? Perhaps a hodgepodge of things. An eclectic style?   Everyone is different, and that is how it should be.

To take some of the stress away from designing a gallery wall I hit up Pinterest (Perfect afternoon if you ask me) and found some amazing options for different styles of gallery walls just for you. I also made a board for it that you can follow and use to help inspire and make your own Gallery walls.

To save you time though, I pulled my top 10 favorites that you can totally copy and put in your own home.

1.  Rebecca Minkoff's Mid Century Modern Apartment Gallery wall Is absolutely STUNNING!!!

I love the idea of using shelving to host frames vs attaching them to the wall sometimes. It allows more versatility and you're able to change out your frames with no worries of messing up your wall or having to re do the whole thing. This is definitely favorite.

2.  Black on white  by Interior Junkie

For a girl who absolutely LOVES color I sure am attracted to black walls with pops of white.  I also am a big fan of adding in little pieces that are not photos. Like that little drawing figure.

3.  Matted images vs Frames

No one said you had to FRAME your images. I love this idea because it brings a unique spin on a traditional wall and if you know me. I like anything that is unique and non traditional.

4. White on White by Urban Nesting

As much as I love and am attracted to black walls, I'm also IN LOVE with white walls with pops of color. Something about the clean bright look just makes my heart sing.  If you've ever been in my studio, you'll notice this is a common theme.

5.  Big Statement pieces

I am a huge fan of BIG over the top statement pieces.  They draw attention and  are fun to look at. If you have kind of a dull space that needs a little life these are the perfect way to do it.

There are literally so many ideas out there and the key is finding what really speaks to you.  Do you already have unique way of displaying your photos? I'd love to see. Post them to Instagram and tag me in your photo or comment below.

What Is Life But A Grand Adventure! My Trip To New Mexico

This past Friday I packed my bags, went to the airport with my bestie and we flew to New Mexico. Albuquerque to be more specific. I personally had never been any further west than maybe Kentucky or Indiana, so this was indeed an excellent adventure.

We got there around 11 pm so we couldn't really see anything when we were driving to where we were staying. When we woke up the next morning the view was beautiful, with nothing but mountains surrounding the entire city!   Since I was there for a shoot I had to leave early in the morning and despite the fact that it was a chilly morning there were tons of hot air balloons in the sky.  Not something you really see here in Cincinnati. Literally, there was probably 2 or more every time you turned a corner.

I had to keep this trip a secret, not because of the shoot I was hired for but because it was also a surprise for my best friends brother who had no idea we were coming and yes he was definitely surprised. I was there personally for an event with the Kirtland Air Force base, photos with Santa!

The whole weekend was an amazing. We were taken around the city to see the sites and tried some of the fantastic food that Albuquerque has to offer.  My favorite was probably Rudys BBQ. It was incredibly delicious and I'm sure I'm going to crave that turkey and brisket for days!

We also traveled up to the top of the Sandia Mountain peak that is 10,378 ft tall. It took roughly an hour to get up there but the view alone was worth it.  It also may have been a little on the cold side but me and my polar bear ways was totally  cool with it. I just wish I had gloves.

Later that day we stopped off at a park to do a little session for my besties brother and his girlfriend, Nichole.  I'm officially jealous of  anyone who has surroundings like this to shoot in.  It was beautiful, the sunset was perfect, there were bunnies and jackrabbits everywhere and mountains in the background. I couldn't have asked for a better place to shoot.  Literally Perfect.

Theres always been a little Magic in her eyes| Cincinnati Ohio Unicorn Meet and Greet.

Every little girl dreams of meeting unicorn or something close to it at some point in their life. Some of us hold that dream close as we get older where others may let it go. Either way we all probably had the same dream.  What If I told you that dream was *technically* achievable?

Well it is!  A while ago I had this amazing project pop up that I knew would be amazing If I could just find the correct pieces to the puzzle.

Thanks to some great recommendations from some friends I found everything I needed for the session within a couple of days and set a date to make the magic happen.

On the day of the session the weather gods were not playing so nice. I thought I'd have to cancel the session due to rain but I did a little rain go away for at least 2 hours and you can come back dance and it surprisingly worked! - You have to get creative withe the going gets ruff haha.

We all helped get the horse saddled up, brushed and ready to be a unicorn. Getting the horn attached was probably the hardest part doing it in a way where it would stay when the horse would move AND not hurt him while doing so.  After a couple of failed attempts we finally got it on and headed out to make some photo magic!

When the session was over, Smokey, had had enough of his horn and smacked me with it when I was taking a selfie with him ( you only get so many opportunities to take a selfie with a "Unicorn"). I may have deserved that for turning a boy horse into a unicorn with a pink horn but I want to give a HUGE Thank you to Smokey and his person for allowing us to create some magic.

Anyway, that's it for this week! Hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving! <3

xoxo- Jess
