2018 Has been a CRAZY year... Here's why

Looking back at 2018 has me like whoa!

Quite literally like this:

Yes. My year was that exciting and I didn’t really expect 85% of it to happen. However I’m INCREDIBLY grateful that it did.

So what was it that made my year freakishly good? Let me make you a little list. ( Because I love lists!)

5. I started doing portraits of places in the city and random ideas in my head.

Why does this make my year so good? Because it let me have another way to create things without needing a person or just running off some random idea I had in the moment. I used to have ideas of something that I thought would look good as a photo but I just let them sit there and collect dust. That time is gone!

4. I got out there in the public and met tons of new people!

If you recall this year I made it a goal to attend craft shows/markets. I was going to slowly dip my toe back into the vendor life and see if it was a good fit for me and what I do. What did I find out? It was- well mostly. It is kind of weird showing up to a vendor fair not really selling anything but trying to tell you who I am and hope you remember me.

Even though it was a little weird, it was worth it and I’ll not trade those long (really sometimes rainy-tent blowing learning experience) days for anything.

3. I dug way deep into education
Yes, that is right. REAL DEEP! I took lots of time to learn new photoshop tricks and ways to edit things to make them look even better than they would have. I spent money on classes without thinking twice, knowing it was for a good reason and would better my future.

It is funny to me to look at photos that I did in the beginning of the year to now. Growth is real my friends.

2. I started doing self portraits two times a week
That seams like a lot, right? Well, you’re correct. It sure is. Some days I didn’t want to and it took EVERYTHING I had to make those photos happen but I did it- give or take a couple of days. It has not only let me try out ideas and newly learned skills but show what I can do with very little. It’s become a personal challenge to see what I can and can’t edit.

1. I took a big chance- and WON!

Back in the early months of 2018 I entered a contest that Olay and Artworks put out. They wanted a woman artist to show them what their version of “Light as air” was. For some reason I just had an overwhelming feeling that I needed to do something with a girl floating in a bubble. I kept the idea in my head for a while and turned it in right before the deadline approached. A couple months later I got an email that I and 4 other awesome ladies were selected as finalists for the competition.

We were all ecstatic! From an amazing dinner with the (super fierce) women putting the contest together, having my work displayed downtown in 3 different places and oh yeah… having a spot in Oprahs Magazine really just set this year over the top.

A little after this I was also in Cincinnati Family Magazine- Cherry on top of my ice cream.

So basically, 2018 you were amazing. Literally.

2019 you have a lot to live up to along with a whole new number added to my age (Hello 30’s, goodbye 20’s- it’s been real)

So here is to 2019 and TONS of new adventures and amazing opportunities to come. <3

Let me know in the comments what made your year extra awesome! :)
